adults

No matter your personality, your background, or your knowledge level, there is a place for you. New Horizon Baptist Church offers the following avenues where adults can learn, build relationships and serve:

Sunday School

Sunday 10am

Adult Men:

Comprised of adult men, includes in-depth study and discussion of the Bible, one book at a time. This class meets in a unique setting, The Lighthouse.

Masters Class:

Comprised of men and women. Teaching material varies. Sometimes we use literature, other times we will read through a book together. We cover topics such as the difference between Christianity and other religions, growing deeper in relationship with Jesus, etc. We enjoy completing service projects such as providing meals during outreach events and Sunday morning refreshments.

Mixed Adults:

Comprised of men and women of various ages. We dig into God's Word, extracting timeless truths for life application.

Prayer Belles:

Comprised of women of various ages. Besides studying the Bible, we have an ongoing prayer list that is updated each Sunday. We serve in several types of missions, including gifts for church members in hospitals, banana bread to welcome visitors and currently are working on organizing visiting of shut-ins. We also assist with fundraisers that the church sponsors such as bake sales, chicken salad dinners and shoeboxes for Christmas. We also enjoy the monthly fellowship group Joy Pals for older adults and the women’s monthly birthday club.

Threads:

Young Adult to Mid/Older Adult, single and/or divorced – Families with or w/o children. We strive to establish an environment in which members can openly share struggles

and/or praises. Our class is encouraged to be genuine and transparent, dispelling the myth that Christians live a trouble-free life. We seek to encourage and support each other based on God’s principles. Class members will benefit most when engaging in class discussions. Our class participates in small-group Bible studies based on different topics that relate to

our lives. The class jointly decides on which studies to pursue. Curriculum typically

includes DVD sessions, workbooks and group discussion. Because of our busy lives we

complete work in class, avoiding “homework.”

Young Adult Parents:

Comprised of men and women who have children. This group engages in discussions and studies relevant to parenting today, spiritual growth, and other issues facing young families in our culture.

Groups

JOY PALS: A ministry for men and women who are age 55 or older. JoyPals meet for food and fellowship once a month, and meet for various activities throughout the year. Fellowship includes men and women from other churches and denominations.

LADIES BIRTHDAY CLUB: Ladies from various churches meet once a month to celebrate the month's birthdays. These rowdy gals have a meal together, drive the waiters crazy, and enjoy a lot of laughs. No gifts are exchanged, cards only.

BITS AND PIECES SEWING MINISTRY: Born out of a desire to teach young ladies how to sew, this group meets weekly to work on various sewing projects. Thus far, quilts and clothing have been handed out in Honduras and in Mexico. In 2017 this group trained women in India sewing, which provided an opportunity form them to be financially independent. This group desires to open their hands to the less fortunate in order to provide basic comfort and warmth.

WORSHIP TEAM: Enjoy singing? Whether you sing like a canary or croak like a frog, all who are willing to make a joyful noise unto the Lord are welcome in our choir as we worship God and minister to the congregation through song.
